The HMI is a membership organisation, dedicated to meeting the needs of its members, managers and organisations working within the Irish health services.

Types of Membership

Individual Membership
Individual membership is open to all managers working within the Irish health service. To be eligible, applicants need to have at least two years healthcare management experience or at least three years management experience outside the health sector. Applicants also require a recognised professional/managerial qualification or should be able to demonstrate qualification through experiential learning acceptable to the Institute. Individual members are entitled to use the designation MHMI.
€100 per annum

Student Membership
Participants of Core Skills of Management will be granted student membership for the year in which they commence the programme. Student members are entitled to use the designation SHMI.
Complimentary for participants on HMI’s Core Skills of Management programme.

Group Membership
Group membership is available to all organizations operating within the Irish health services. HMI Group Membership entitles your organisation to a range of benefits. There are three levels of group membership, reflecting the varying needs of different sized organisations.
Level 1: €1,500 per annum; Level 2: €1,000 per annum; Level 3: €500 per annum

Fellow
The AGM of the Institute may, on the nomination of Council, elect full members to be Fellows of the Institute. Fellowship is an honour bestowed on a member in recognition of an outstanding contribution, over time, to health care management or to the Institute. As a general rule, the number of fellows may not exceed 5% of the number of full members. Fellows of the Institute may use the designation FHMI.

Honorary Member
The AGM of the Institute may, on the nomination of Council, elect to honorary membership persons who contributed significantly to the development of management practice in healthcare in Ireland or who have made outstanding contributions to the Institute. As a general rule, honorary members may not exceed 1% of the number of full members.

Please download and complete the appropriate application form below and return to: HMI Membership, Heather House, Sandyford Business Park, Dublin 18. We will acknowledge receipt of applications within two working days. Applications for membership are proposed at Council Meetings. Decision to award membership rests with Council.
