Target Audience

Managers, team leads and other health and social care professionals responsible for resolving workplace disputes and disputes within multidisciplinary teams.

Conflict Management Course Content

This course explores the nature and sources of workplace conflict, along with different conflict management styles and their impact on outcomes.

Participants will learn practical techniques for managing difficult conversations, including active listening, assertive communication, and de-escalation, as well as strategies for remaining objective and finding mutually acceptable solutions.

The day also covers when and how to escalate a dispute appropriately, concluding with role play and group discussion to practise the techniques covered.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the common causes and stages of workplace conflict
  • Identify their own conflict management style and its effect on resolution outcomes
  • Apply active listening and assertive communication techniques during difficult conversations
  • Demonstrate strategies for de-escalating tense situations and managing emotions
  • Evaluate conflict situations to determine appropriate resolution approaches, including when to escalate
  • Practise conflict resolution techniques through role play, incorporating peer feedback
