Target Audience

This online course is designed for organisations and individuals who want to better understand the concepts of diversity and inclusion and unconscious bias and how to apply them to their own organisation. Appreciating diversity and understanding unconscious bias can foster positive workplace behaviours. From time to time inappropriate behaviours in the workplace can result in bullying and harassment. In addition, Health and Safety legislation imposes obligations on employers with regards to Bullying and Harassment in the workplace, making this online course essential for all employees.

Course Content

The Diversity and Inclusion module will explore what diversity means, individual uniqueness and how workplaces can benefit from having a diverse workplace. Referencing the Employment Equality Acts, this module considers the challenges to diversity and inclusion and actions organisations and individuals can take when they encounter non-inclusive behaviour.

Unconscious bias refers to those biases we all have but which remain hidden to us. This module will give an overview of what unconscious bias is. It also considers the negative impacts which can occur in the workplace as a result. Using visualisation and other exercises, participants will gain an understanding of their decision making processes and how that impacts their choices in the workplace.

The Bullying and Harassment Training for All module helps individuals and organisations maintain a workplace where employees come to work without fear of being bullied or harassed. It teaches participants about their right to be treated, and their responsibility to treat others, with dignity and respect in the workplace. The course discusses the differences between bullying, harassment and sexual harassment, what an employee and employer can do if experiencing inappropriate behaviour at work and how to submit a formal complaint.
