Ann Marie O’Grady, HMI Council, welcomed and introduced Fionnuala. Starting with a quote from 1933 which could equally set a context for the present, Fionnuala gave a fulsome presentation as to where the acute hospitals sector is at present and the future focus of the Department. In outlining the rationale, current vision, she discussed hospital groups and also the role of smaller hospitals. She went on to identify key areas of work for the Department within the acute hospital sector. This includes;

  • Strategic Advisory Group- Policy Framework
  • Trauma networks
  • New Children’s Hospital
  • Dublin Maternity Service Re-organisation
  • Maternity Strategy

The evening finished with questions from the floor from the large number in attendance.
