Health systems don’t work without health managers

You can have the most skilled doctors and nurses working in a hospital but without skilled health managers and hospital administrators, the system won’t work and patients won’t get the best possible outcomes.

At VSO, we know this and that’s why we are seeking to recruit experienced health managers and hospital administrators to volunteer in 2014 in Africa, Asia or the Pacific. The skills you have developed in Ireland can have a transformative effect if put to use in developing countries such as Ethiopia, where volunteers are supporting major improvements in the health system.

VSO health volunteers work with local partner organisations to up skill, train and mentor professionals to improve efficiency and outcomes.

VSO is an international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty. Working in over 30 countries, we look at the big picture in healthcare and send experienced health managers to lead change at all levels of the health system.

We ask our volunteers to commit to 12 months and in return we provide a comprehensive support package which includes:

  • Flights
  • Accommodation
  • Visa and Vaccinations
  • Medical Insurance
  • Training
  • Local allowance based cost of living
