Gordon spoke expansively about the way forward within the Child and Family Support Agency. He challenged people to think about what is was they wish to hold on to and what it is they want to change.

There are certain key themes which will centre the service; it will be client based; there will be clear and professional accountability; and services will be delivered at a local and practical level. He addressed what he called a coalition of services from across all spheres grouped around the client. This is underwritten by three key imperatives; moral, statutory and effectiveness. Following his presentation, Gordon took part in a lively question and answer session with the large group of healthcare managers who attended this event.
