This year, HMI was delighted that we had two award categories:

  • HMI Leaders Award 2016
  • HMI Leaders Award 2016, Major Project

Both category winners were announced at an award ceremony on 24 June, 2016 in the splendid setting of the Royal College of Physicians, on Kildare Street, Dublin.

There were six finalists for the HMI Leaders Award 2016. Each of these projects had been nominated following a shortlisting process and presentation to a regional judging panel.

Earlier on the 24 June, each finalist was invited to present to the National Panel, who then choose the overall winner.

The finalists of the HMI Leaders Award 2016, Major Award had made presentations to a specially convened panel the previous evening, 23 June, 2016.

In his closing comments following the award ceremony, Denis Doherty, Chair of the National Juding Panel, noted the quality and very high standard of all projects from the two categories. He remarked on the commitment of team and person involved and of how they are all exemplars of the brave and innovative work that often goes unacknowledged within the health service.
