HMI Upcoming Training Programmes

Discount available before 2 AugustHere at HMI we are planning ahead for Autumn/Winter 2013. Our scheduled dates for programmes are listed below. Along with some firm favourites, we are delighted to introduce our new one-day programme Building Resilience.

Management Development Courses

Certificate in Management Skills
Once again, Certificate in Management Skills has been a very popular programme during 2013. Join the hundreds of managers in the health service who have chosen this programme to develop essential management skills and attain a recognised qualification. Management Skills has received excellent reviews from previous participants. The cost of this three-day FETAC programme is €675 per person. However, book Management Skills before 2 August, and pay just €550 per person.

*From December 2013 we will be replacing Management Skills with a new Management Skills Plus programme to comply with updated FETAC requirements. The Management Skills Plus programme will still run over three days, however it will also contain eLearning modules and require two additional pieces of assessment. Management Skills Plus costs €845 per person, however book before 2 August and pay just €675 per person.

Building Resilience (new for Autumn/Winter 2013)
Challenges in the workplace cannot be avoided, but we can build up our resilience to them. Organisations, managers and individuals can learn to identify, manage and bounce back from these challenges more effectively. Resilience is now recognised as an important factor in the current, modern day workplace and this programme aims to assist managers to examine their ability to be successful both personally and professionally, in the midst of a high-pressured, fast-paced and continuously changing environment. This one-day course is very competitively priced at €225 per person. However, book before 2 August, and pay €195 per person. This programme can also be run on an in-house basis for €1,250.

Employment Law for Health Service Managers
During autumn, we will also run our one-day Employment Law for Health Service Managers course. This comprehensive course covers ten key areas of employment law practice. It is essential for every manager needing a working knowledge of employment law. This course is very competitively priced at €245 per person. However, book before 2 August, and pay €215 per person. This programme can also be run on an in-house basis for €1,250.

Attendance Management
One of the key challenges facing managers is the management of attendance and absence on a daily basis. Our one-day Attendance Management course equips managers with an understanding of the issues involved and the means to create an attendance culture. The cost of this programme is €225 per person. However, book before 2 August and pay €195 per person. This programme can also be run on an in-house basis for €1,000.

Health & Safety courses

People Handling Instructor Course
The People Handling Instructor Course aims to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and deliver effective training courses in manual and people handling in the healthcare environment. It is a nine day course delivered over seven weeks. The cost of this programme is €1,650 per person. A 10% discount will apply if a second participant from the same organisation attends the same course.

Update Course for Existing People Handling Instructors
All existing people-handling instructors should update their knowledge and skills to maintain their competency in people handling instruction. This 1 day Update Course for Existing People Handling Instructors aims to update instructors on recent developments in people handling and emerging people handling issues. The cost of this programme is €250 per person.

Display Screen Equipment (DSE/VDU) Assessor Course
The 2007 Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations: Chapter 5 of Part 2: Display Screen Equipment requires employers to carry out DSE/VDU workstation assessments in office environments.  Our Display Screen Equipment (DSE/VDU) Asssessor course is run as an in-house course and is suitable for up to 10 participants. The course duration is 1.5 days with a gap between the days to allow the participants review course material and revert with queries. Course fee on request.
