Priorities and challenges in Transforming Child Services

Presented by Gordon Jeyes
National Director, Child and Family Services

Large Lecture Theatre, 3rd Floor Dublin Dental University Hospital

Child Services are undergoing one of the most significant transformations within the Irish Health services. The change programme will culminate with the establishment of the Child and Family Support Agency, a single agency incorporating all key children’s services. Other elements of the transformation include a change programme to improve the quality and consistency of child welfare and protection services; legislation placing Children’s First (National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children) on a statutory basis; the establishment of a dedicated budget for children and family services, providing transparency and accountability for the use of resources to meet national priorities.

Leadership of the new agency has been entrusted to Gordan Jeyes, currently National Director of Child and Family Services in the HSE and an acknowledged internationally as an expert in the development and provision of child services.
