Human Resources – Challenges and Opportunities for Managers in the HSE

Presented by Mr. Barry O’Brien
National Director, Human Resources, Health Service Executive (HSE)

Large Lecture Theatre, 3rd Floor Dublin Dental University Hospital

Line managers in the health services are experiencing ever more change and uncertainty in managing their people. The impact of voluntary severance, the staff moratorium and changes introduced under the Croke Park Agreement, have all taken their toll. While much has been achieved, radical change will continue to be norm. At the same time, managers have begun to look to the future. They know that they will have to implement progressive policies and practices to enable the organisation and its people sieze the opportunities which will eventually emerge.

This meeting will focus on how HR and line managers can work together to bring about the changes and the positive agenda for action which is required.
