IHM Annual conference

Living for the age – excellence in austerity

The Healthcare Management N.I.Annual Conference will take place on 24th and 25th November 2011 at the Slieve Donard Hotel.

Event date: 24 November 2011 – 4:30pm
Cost: Various
Contact: Kerry Braik
Phone: 028 9064 4811
Location: Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, Downs Road, Newcastle BT33 0AH

Early booking is encouraged as the likelihood is, given the Conference themes and speakers, that the places will go quickly.

The N.I. IHM Division has again this year been asked by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety to organise and host the N.I. Health and Social Care Quality Awards and the presentation of the Awards will be made at the Conference Dinner on the evening of the 24th. The Awards for the IHM Manager, the RCN Nurse Manager and the Patient and Client Council’s Award will also be made at the Dinner.

When you receive your copy of the Brochure you will see that we have managed to secure the services of Mark Carruthers who will relive for us the challenges he faced in bringing to life the new Lyric Theatre. This should give encouragement to managers who face daily what seem to be impossible tasks.

On Friday you will be able to attend a Masterclass which addresses the policy and operational issues associated with  maintaining service standards in times of austerity. The afternoon commences with a presentation by John Compton on the themes addressed by the Review of Health and Social Care which is due to report to the Minister at the end of November. This will be a timely opportunity for some discussion. The afternoon finishes with an informal dialogue between representatives of the Media who cover Health and Social Care issues and our delegates.

I’m sure that you will agreed that we have the prospect of two relevant days of interaction. Again can I exhort you to have a close look at the Conference details and to get your reservation in as early possible. I would appreciate it if you would circulate the conference brochure amongst your colleagues.

Kind Regards, and I hope to see you at the end of November.
