Recruitment: Directors of Performance Improvement

Director for Performance Improvement – Scheduled Care

Director for Performance Improvement – Unscheduled Care

The Minister for Health has established a Special Delivery Unit (SDU) within his Department.  In order to allow the SDU to deliver on its mandate, the Department is recruiting two Directors of Performance Improvement for scheduled and unscheduled care, on a fixed-term contract basis.

Department of Health

The development of the Unit is a key part of plans to radically reform the health system in Ireland. The priorities encompass waiting times for scheduled and unscheduled care and the introduction of a major upgrade in the performance capabilites of the Irish health system.

These roles will require a commitment to patient centeredness and quality improvement as well as experience of working in a profession led environment and a detailed understanding of the types of information systems operating within scheduled or unscheduled care settings.

They offer an excellent opportunity to influence and improve the patient experience within the Irish health sector.  It is expected that the successful candidates will have a strong ethical basis for their work and be motivated by a passion to ensure that no patient suffers unnecessary indignity or delay while accessing scheduled or unscheduled care in Ireland.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record at a senior level of relevant management experience including proven ability in developing and implementing plans at a strategic and operational level. Significant experience in delivering sustainable improvements in patient management for elective care and/or in emergency department waiting times is also required.

Closing date: Friday, 9th September, 2011
